Haint
A Haint is a restless or malevolent spirit in African American and Gullah Geechee folklore. The term derives from the Gullah pronunciation of 'haunt' and encompasses a broad category of supernatural entities — including the spirits of the dead, Boo Hags, Plat-Eyes, and other wandering entities. Haints are believed to be souls that cannot rest due to unfinished business, improper burial, or violent death.
