Hāmah
Hāmah is a mythical creature from pre-Islamic Arabian folklore, described as a flying snake or a screech owl that emerges from the skull of a murdered person. According to Bedouin belief, when a person was murdered, their soul transformed into a Hāmah - an owl-like bird or flying serpent that would endlessly cry out for vengeance, hovering around the grave calling for justice. The Hāmah would not rest until the murder was avenged. This belief was so strong that it functioned as a supernatural justice system, pressuring communities to solve murders.
