Havsrå
Havsrået (the sea spirit), also called Havsfrun (the sea lady) or Sjöfrun (the sea wife), is a female guardian of the sea and its creatures in Swedish maritime folklore. Unlike the freshwater Sjörå which rules lakes, Havsrået governs the salt sea and all its creatures. Fishermen made offerings of coins, tobacco, or bread to her before setting out, hoping for good catches and safe passage. She could raise storms to punish disrespectful fishermen or calm the waves for those who honored her. Havsrået is often seen at dusk sitting on coastal rocks, combing her long golden hair. If she is seen comb
