Hawk Deity (Kikuyu)
In Kikuyu (Kenya) oral tradition, the hawk and the chameleon act as the messengers of Ngai, the supreme god, in the myth that explains the origin of death: the chameleon's delayed return made mortality permanent. This is a genuine Kikuyu belief mislabeled as a USA deity; the Kikuyu homeland is central Kenya.
