Heloha
Heloha, Thunder, and her mate Melatha, Lightning, are the two great birds of Choctaw tradition. The Sun Father sent them to warn the people of approaching storms. Heloha lays her enormous eggs on the clouds, where they roll about with a great rumble, while swift Melatha streaks across the sky leaving a trail of sparks. They are the comic pair of Choctaw storm myths.
