Hihankara
Hihaŋkaǧa, Owl-Maker, is an aged Lakota spirit who sits at the entrance to the Sky Road, the Milky Way, judging the naǧí, the souls of the dead. She admits only those whose bodies were properly tattooed; the rest she sends back to wander the earth as ghosts. She appears in Lakota lists of deities and accounts of the afterlife journey.
