Hine-titama
The dawn maiden, daughter of Tane Mahuta and Hineahuone, the first woman. Hine-titama was the first dawn, the first light of day, born from the union of the god of forests and the woman formed from earth. She later married her father Tane, not knowing their relationship. When she discovered that Tane was her father, she was overcome with shame and fled to the underworld, transforming into Hine-nui-te-po, the goddess of death. Her flight marks the transition from the age of gods to the age of humanity, and the introduction of death into the world
