Hızır (Khidr), the 'Green One,' is the mysterious immortal guide of Turkic and Islamic tradition, revered across Turkmen lands as the patron of travelers and the helper who appears when he is truly needed. On Hıdırellez, the sixth of May, he is honored as the renewer of spring and the bringer of good fortune.
