Holy People (Diyin Dineʼé)

spirit · United States · North America

The Diyin Dine'é, or Holy People, are the supernaturals of Navajo tradition who shaped the world and gave the people ceremonies and lifeways. Chief among them is Changing Woman (Asdzą́ą́ Nádleehé), who created the Navajo from her own skin and a bundle of mountain soil, instructing them to live in balance within the sacred landscape.
