mythical-serpent · United States · North America

The Horned Serpent and the Tie-Snake (estakwvnayv) of the Muscogee Creek are underwater serpents of the Lower World, sometimes one creature and sometimes two, with the Horned Serpent the larger. It bears a great crystal on its forehead and crystalline scales prized for divination, its stag-like horns were used in medicine, and hunters who ate forbidden food could become such serpents.
