House God (Haashchʼééʼooghaan)
House God (Haashchʼééʼooghaan) is a deity in Navajo mythology who guards the home and ensures domestic harmony. He is one of the lesser Holy People tasked with protecting households from evil influences, nightmares, and spiritual intrusion. Haashchʼééʼooghaan is honored during the House Blessingway ceremony, in which the family offers prayers, corn pollen, and sacred smoke to invite his protection. He is associated with the hearth fire and the central fire pit of the hogan, and his presence is believed to keep the dwelling in a state of hózhó (beauty and balance)
