Huldufólk
Huldufólk (the Hidden People) are the most pervasive supernatural beings in Faroese folklore — a parallel race living just beyond human sight. Unlike Icelandic hidden folk (often beautiful and slender), the Faroese version is consistently described as unusually large in build, with black hair and somber grey clothing. Their dwellings are in ancient burial mounds (álvheyggjur), the most famous being the elf-mound in Norðstreymoy south of Haldórsvík.
