Huldufólk
In Iceland, huldufólk ('hidden people') are a parallel race believed to live in rocks and cliffs, largely invisible to humans. They are central to Icelandic folklore, collected by Jón Árnason and others, and were to be treated with respect: building or blasting in their dwelling-places could bring misfortune.
