Hun Hunahpu (also spelled Hun-Hunahpu, meaning 'One Hunahpu') is a central figure in Maya mythology as recounted in the Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the K'iche' Maya. He is the father of the legendary Hero Twins, Hunahpu and Xbalanque, and is widely identified with the Maya Maize God — the deity whose death and resurrection makes human life possible.
