Igyō no danshi
Igyō no danshi (異形の男子), 'the grotesque boy', is recorded in the Edo-period Chikuzen Bakemono Emaki: the armless son of Ōtomo Senzaemon, a retainer of Oka Castle in Bungo Province, born around 1842. He spoke from birth, had a scorching-hot body, breathed fire from his nostrils, and released a hitodama spirit-fire from his mouth — read as karmic retribution for his father's killing of animals.
