Sasabonsam
The Sasabonsam (Asanbosam) is the vampire-ogre of the Akan peoples of Côte d'Ivoire, including the Baoulé and Anyi: a tree-dwelling forest predator with iron teeth, pink or dark skin, long red hair, bat-like wings and hooked feet, which drops on travelers and hunters from the canopy. Its legends police forest boundaries and punish excessive hunting.
