Jackalope
The jackalope is a 'fearsome critter' of American tall-tale tradition: a jackrabbit with antelope horns, said to mimic human voices and be lured with whiskey. Popularized in Wyoming in the 1930s by taxidermist Douglas Herrick, it is a 20th-century hoax animal, not a Native American legend.
