Jann
The jann are the primordial fire-born jinn of pre-Islamic Arabia, created from smokeless flame before the coming of Islam. They haunt desert paths and oases, appearing to travellers as whirlwinds of sand or as a beautiful white camel that leads them astray. Capable of every shape, they are as likely to help as to harm, their root name meaning to conceal.
