Jok
Jok is the all-embracing class of spirits in Acholi belief, covering ancestral shades, nature powers, and the supreme creator. It can strike with illness and misfortune, yet it also grants protection, healing, and prosperity, and is honoured through song. Every clan and place possesses its own jok, weaving the seen and unseen worlds into one order.
