Juovlastállu
Juovlastállu (Yule Stállu) is the terrifying Christmas giant of Sami folklore, a variant of Stállo who punishes children who misbehave at Christmastime. Unlike the regular Stállo who is primarily a cannibal, Juovlastállu functions as a disciplinary figure — he enforces proper Christmas behavior. He drives a sled (ráidu) pulled by mice or lemmings through the winter landscape. Families must sweep the area around their home clean so the sled doesn't get stuck on woodchips or debris.
