Kabouter
A small, bearded gnome-like creature from Flemish folklore, equivalent to the Dutch kabouter and similar to the German kobold. Kabouters are benevolent household spirits who live in forests, farms, and sometimes within human homes. They are known for their pointed red caps, long white beards, and helpful nature. A kabouter will secretly perform chores—cleaning, mending tools, caring for animals—while the household sleeps. In return, they expect a small offering of bread, milk, or porridge left in the barn or at the hearth. They are shy and will flee if directly observed or thanked. If treated
