Kanati
Kanati is the First Man and great hunter of Cherokee tradition, husband of Selu, the Corn Mother. His name derives from the Cherokee word for 'hunter' (often mistranslated as 'Lucky Hunter'). In the origin story he kept deer and game shut away in a cave and released them into the world, and once his wild son freed the animals, hunting became a necessity for humans.
