Karakoncolos
The Karakoncolos is a winter demon of Turkish and Balkan folk belief, known in the Black Sea and northeastern Anatolia and among Bulgarian, Serbian, and Greek neighbors as Karakondžula or similar names. It is said to appear in the coldest midwinter days, imitating human voices to lure people outdoors into the freezing dark. Parents invoked it to keep children indoors at night.
