Khodumodumo
Khodumodumo (also Kholumolumo) is the swallowing monster of Basotho mythology in Lesotho; its name, 'great noise' or 'great rumble', echoes its roar and the rumbling of its stomach. The gaping-mouthed beast devoured people, cattle and whole villages until a hero climbed inside and cut his way out, rescuing the swallowed. The myth figures nature's chaos overcome by courage and cooperation.
