Kim Qui (literally 'Golden Turtle') is the sacred turtle god of Vietnamese mythology who helped King An Dương Vương build the spiral-shaped Cổ Loa Citadel and forge a magic crossbow that could fire hundreds of arrows at once. According to legend, Kim Qui emerged from the waters and revealed to the king how to construct the citadel's defensive walls, which had kept collapsing until the turtle god explained they were built on a mountain spirit's territory.
