Kolowa

monster · United States · North America

Kolowa is a man-eating ogre of Creek (Muscogee) folklore, a huge, shaggy, humanlike creature covered in thick hair with enormous strength and a foul stench that can be smelled from far away. It lurks in the deep forests beyond the villages, imitates human voices to lure victims, and preys on people who stray too far from home; some modern storytellers liken it to a gorilla.
