Komokwa (Undersea Chief)
In Haida tradition, Komokwa is the powerful chief of the undersea world who controls all the wealth of the sea. He lives in a magnificent house made of copper and abalone shell, surrounded by supernatural beings. Those who drown do not truly die but are taken to live in Komokwa undersea kingdom, where they may acquire great supernatural power. Komokwa controls the movements of salmon, halibut, seals, and whales. He appears as both a generous giver of wealth and a dangerous being who can drown anyone who disrespects the sea
