Komokwa (Copper-Maker)
Komokwa, 'Copper-Maker,' is the wealthy chief of the undersea world in Kwakwaka'wakw and Nuxalk tradition. He lives in a great copper house beneath the sea, its living posts the sea-lions, and rules the ocean's wealth. He tests heroes with dangerous trials, rewarding the worthy with copper, masks and songs; the winter counterpart of the sky Thunderbird, he guards his realm with an octopus.
