Kosen

ghost · Japan · East Asia and Pacific

'Kosen' garbles the attested yokai kosenjobi ('ancient battlefield fire'): ghost-flames rising over old killing grounds from the blood of fallen warriors and horses. Depicted by Toriyama Sekien in the Konjaku Gazu Zoku Hyakki and noted in Edo ghost-story collections, these pale fires drift as unsettled souls; witnesses would chant and withdraw. The input's 'dancing ghost woman' is fabricated.
