Krishna

deity · India · South Asia

Krishna is one of the most venerated deities of Hinduism: the eighth avatar of Vishnu and, in Vaishnavism, the Supreme Being in his own right. He is the divine charioteer and teacher of Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita, the cowherd of Vrindavan who charmed the gopis with his flute, the butter-stealing child, the slayer of demons, and king of Dvaraka. His worship spans all of India and its diaspora.
