Kuntilanak
Kuntilanak is a female vampire spirit from Indonesian and Malay folklore, one of the most feared supernatural beings in Southeast Asia. She is the ghost of a woman who died during childbirth or as a virgin, condemned to wander the earth in torment. The kuntilanak shares characteristics with the similar pontianak spirit of Malay tradition, and the names are sometimes used interchangeably across the region. She is a vengeful spirit who targets pregnant women and newborn infants, driven by jealousy and the tragedy of her own unfinished life. The kuntilanak legend is deeply embedded in Indonesian
