Shahmaran is a legendary half-woman, half-serpent figure in Kurdish, Turkish, Persian, and Mesopotamian folklore. The name means 'King of the Serpents' in Persian. According to legend, a young man named Camsab accidentally discovered the underground realm of the serpents, where Shahmaran (the beautiful serpent queen) ruled. She shared her wisdom with him.
