Kwatyat is the transformer and culture hero of the Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka), who traveled the coast in the myth age setting the world right. He changed the ancient beings into the animals, plants, and landmarks of today, and his journeys, recorded by Sapir and Swadesh, explain the shape of the Nuu-chah-nulth world.
