La Culebra Vieja
Not independently attested as a wise serpent: the genuine figure behind this garbled entry is La Tulevieja (Tulivieja), a feared river hag of Costa Rican and Panamanian folklore rooted in Bribri, Huetar and Cabécar myth (the itsö), who wails for a drowned child, snatches children, and lures men with her inverted footprints.
