Lekamøya (the Leka Maid) is a female troll figure from Nordland folklore, serving as the nanny of the Seven Sisters — the daughters of Suliskongen. According to the legend cycle, when Hestmannen pursued the Seven Sisters, Lekamøya tried to protect them. She fled south from the horseman, leaping across Velfjorden toward Leka island. As the sun rose, she was turned to stone mid-flight. The butter keg she was carrying fell from her hands and became the yellow-colored mountains on Leka island (which are geologically distinct — composed of ultramafic rock with a distinctive yellow-green color).
