Lemminkäinen
Lemminkäinen is the reckless, handsome hero of the Kalevala who woos Kyllikki, journeys to Pohjola, is killed trying to shoot the Swan of Tuonela, and is resurrected by his mother raking the river of death. His adventures, compiled by Lönnrot from Karelian runic songs, portray a shamanic figure who traverses the boundary between worlds.
