Leszy
Leszy (leszek) is the Polish forest guardian, a shape-shifting old man of the woods who herds animals, especially wolves, and plays tricks on those who stray. In Polish folk belief he can be propitiated with small gifts, and woodsmen recognize his territory before felling trees, treating the forest as a living domain with a master.
