Álfar
Álfar (elves) are nature-dwelling spirits in Icelandic folklore, distinct from the Huldufólk (hidden people) in several key ways. While Huldufólk are considered to be human-like beings living in a parallel society, álfar are more ethereal, nature-bound beings associated with specific rocks, hills, and cliffs. In Icelandic tradition, álfar are beautiful, graceful, and possess magical powers. They live inside rocks (álfhólar — elf hills) and practice farming in parallel to human farmers.
