Lhamu
Lhamu are Tibetan-influenced shapeshifting spirits in Nepali Sherpa/Himalayan folklore. Appear as monks, travelers, or animals in mountain passes, testing or guiding travelers. Related to Himalayan 'lu' (naga) and 'dre' (spirit) classes. Sherpa traditions include mountain spirits (Lha, Lu) that shapeshift. Name 'Lhamu' (Tibetan: Lha-mo) suggests female protective spirit.
