Libyan Desert Jinn
The desert jinn of Libya are wandering fire-born spirits of the Sahara who appear to travellers as guides and lead them astray. Their most famous haunt is Kaf Ajnoun, the Cave of the Jinn near Ghat, a haunted rock fortress where jinn gather, sometimes seen as an uncatchable deer. The Tuareg hold that jinn fear iron, so a blade is carried even to weddings.
