Lidérc
Lidérc is a malevolent demonic spirit of Hungarian folklore, commanded by witches and appearing as a strange animal, a fiery will-o'-the-wisp, or a ball of light. It visits sleepers at night, bringing nightmares and oppression, a menace documented in witch-trial records studied by folklorist Éva Pócs, showing continuity between medieval and early modern belief.
