Ligaroo
The Ligaroo (also spelled Lougaroo) is the male counterpart of the Soucouyant in Grenadian folklore. Unlike the Soucouyant which is typically female, the Ligaroo is a man who has sold his soul to gain the ability to transform into animals — most commonly dogs, donkeys, and fowls — as well as inanimate objects like cakes. The legend has roots in French werewolf (loup-garou) mythology that blended with West African shapeshifting traditions brought by enslaved Africans.
