Lord of the Gobi
The Lord of the Gobi is a desert spirit of southern Mongolia, described as a towering figure of sand and wind, sometimes a dust devil, that can also appear as an old man or a shimmering form in the heat haze. It tests desert travelers for hospitality and worthiness, rewarding the kind with safe passage and hidden water, punishing the cruel, embodying the harsh but just nature of the Gobi.
