Luz Mala Gaucha
Luz Mala ('evil light') is the Argentine/Uruguayan gaucho name for the will-o'-the-wisp (ignis fatuus): a floating corpse-fire seen over rural plains at night, omen of death or buried treasure. The 'gaucha' variant emphasizes its pampas context. Feared by rural travelers; said to mark where the unbaptized or murdered lie.
