Älvor
Älvor in Swedish folk belief are beautiful, human-like beings dwelling in forests, meadows, and mist. They dance in circles (älvadans), causing illness or madness to intruders, and can exchange human children for changelings (bytlingar). Both male and female älvor exist. They are distinct from skogsrå/huldra but regionally conflated. Documented in 17th–19th century Swedish folklore collections.
