Lyktemann
Lyktemann (lantern-man), also known as lyktgubbe, is a will-o'-the-wisp ghost light in Norwegian folklore particularly associated with the marshlands and coastal bogs of Vestlandet. The lyktemann appears as a small, dancing light that leads travelers astray into dangerous marshes, bogs, or cliffs. Following the light means certain death — the victim either drowns in a bog or falls from a cliff. The light could not be caught or approached — it always stayed just ahead. In some traditions, the lyktemann is the ghost of a sinful person condemned to wander with a lantern for eternity. Regional var
