Maadai-Kara

Maadai-Kara is the eponymous elder hero of one of the greatest Altai heroic epics, a poem of 7,738 verses, shown in warrior clothing on an argamak winged horse. When Maadai-Kara and his wife are carried off to the underworld by Erlik, their son Kögüdei Mergen, the Heavenly Archer, journeys through all three cosmic worlds to rescue them. The epic was preserved by bard Elbek Kalkin.
