Mae Nak Phra Khanong
Mae Nak Phra Khanong is the most famous ghost in Thai folklore: a young wife who died in childbirth in Bangkok's Phra Khanong district and returned to keep house for her unwitting husband. Her story of enduring love, loyalty, and tragic revelation has been retold in dozens of films, plays, and novels, and her shrine at Wat Mahabut still draws devotees.
