Maganda (The First Woman)
In the Tagalog creation myth, Maganda (Beautiful) is the first woman, who together with Malakas (Strong), emerged from a split bamboo stalk. According to the ancient belief, a great bird pecked open a bamboo tube, revealing the first human pair. Maganda represents beauty, grace, and the nurturing spirit of womanhood. She and Malakas became the primordial parents of the Filipino race, teaching their children how to farm, fish, build homes, and honor the spirits of nature. The name Maganda itself means 'beautiful' in Tagalog, reflecting the ideal of inner and outer beauty in Filipino culture
