Manananggal
The manananggal is a vampiric creature of Philippine folklore, a woman by day who at night separates her upper torso, grows leathery wings, and flies out to hunt. She preys especially on pregnant women, extending a long tongue to suck the unborn child, and must rejoin her lower half before dawn. Her night flights warned against night wandering and pregnancy dangers.
